Longo Co-Authors Illinois Bar Journal Article on Law of the Case Doctrine and Subject Matter Jurisdiction

The firm is proud to announce that one of its partners, Anthony Longo, recently coauthored a significant article with the Illinois Bar Journal this winter. The article is entitled, “A Palpable Conflict” and it appears in the Journal’s November issue. In the piece, Mr. Longo and his coauthor, John Fitzgerald, review the split of authority that exists in Illinois regarding whether the law of the case doctrine can ever apply to court rulings regarding the existence of subject matter jurisdiction. The article discusses both legal doctrines, the underlying policy concerns at stake, and predict that the split in authority is headed for resolution by the state’s highest court.
